We're Cancun Mexican Grill & Bar and we've been a local Mexican restaurant here in Cedar Rapids since 2013 but we have been in business for over 25 years. We believe in excellent service, offering fresh food made to order, delicious seafood, and amazing margaritas. Family-owned, we started this business to provide our community with great food in a fun gathering place. I kicked off my Cedar Rapids Mexican food gauntlet after eating bad Mexican food yesterday. I wanted a redemption shot and I’m glad I took it at Cancun. A few things:
1. This is the best chimi I’ve ever had. I’m from Ohio and if you’d told me that I’d have the best chimichanga in Iowa of all places I would ignore you—because that sounds crazy. But here I am writing a review because it was so good. Eat the changa’s and you won’t regret it.
2. I am on a work trip so I brought my kindle to read while eating. The server was quick and attentive, while also letting me read uninterrupted. Now I’m reading at a restaurant so I don’t expect someone to care if I’m reading or not, but it felt like they were respectful of my reading which was cool.
3. Their tortilla chips are huge, and I don’t know why, but Iowa is 2 for 2 on Mexican restaurants having absurdly large chips. Not a pro or a con, just something I noticed. Perhaps I’ll go 3 for 3 tomorrow on large chips.

This is one of my favorite places to stop at when I'm in Cedar Rapids. Everything I've had is pretty dang good, but I would absolutely recommend the ceviche. Service has always been friendly as well.
